The Power of Commitment: Dispelling the Myths of CloudAgnostic Strategies and Tools

Abstract

Many teams strive for cloud agnosticism - hoping to stay flexible, avoid vendor lock-in, and make their infrastructure portable across providers. But in practice, this often leads to increased complexity, limited use of cloud-native features, and higher operational overhead. In this talk, we’ll take a closer look at the real trade-offs of cloud-agnostic architectures and explore why committing to a single cloud provider can be the more pragmatic and cost-effective choice.

To make things interesting, we’ll also pit Terraform vs. AWS CDK in a live coding challenge.
